If you are like me, sometimes you can’t get the exact domain name that you want. When I purchased the name for this blog (jeffreylowe.com), I really wanted it to be jeff instead of jeffrey. An answer to what you maybe looking for may be just around the corner.
This is another top level domain (a top level domain is .com, .edu, .gov, .net – you get the idea) that is about to be opened up for public consumption. The new domain is .co. From what I’ve read its going to be marketed toward businesses that want .com, but can’t get what they really want. I’ve already preregistered a new name for me, although at this time I’m not sure what I will use it for.
Consider this a PSA if there is a name out there that you have always wanted.
Happy registering!

This blog is mostly religion based, but since technology is my bread and butter, from time to time I feel compelled to talk about it. I hope you enjoy.
Since the first of 2007 I have almost been forced to have a smart phone. The need arose from the many times I double booked my time. It was simply a way to always have my calendar with me. I started out with a Treo 700W (W = Windows based). It was a good phone, but after two of them had hardware problems, I decided I needed to try another manufacturer. So in February of 2008 I went to a Samsung SCH-760. This too was a great phone, very durable, never any hardware problems, came with Wi-Fi, (although I rarely used it).
Then earlier this year I demoed a BlackBerry Curve from US Celluar. Now I personally don’t care of US Cellular, but I did enjoy using the phone. At that point I decided a BlackBerry would be my next phone. Since the Curve has been around since the dawn of time (relatively), I knew it had to be a solid phone. Upon doing research and finding things out about it, it only had one feature that I knew I wanted on my next phone and that was global capability. With all the mission trips that I have been on, that has been on draw back of having a CDMA handset (the technology that US Cellular, Verizon, Sprint and a couple others), it doesn’t work in a lot of countries. While doing said research, I stumbled upon rumors of a new BB coming to CDMA carriers. The BB Tour. It had a QWERTY keyboard, great voice quality, global capability, everything that I was looking for in a smart phone. When we got back from Thailand, I went and got one. I can honestly say it has been a great phone thus far. The call quality is great. One of my favorite app’s for it is Pandora. It allows you to build your own radio station that streams audio to your phone from the Internet. I truly do like it. If you are looking for a new smart phone, I would recommend you looking at the BlackBerry 9630 Tour. It’s a very solid phone.

In small group we have been going through Experiencing God. One of the main ideas is that God makes apparent where He is working and invites you to join Him in His work (and expects you to be obedient and join Him immediately).
As you know we are going to Thailand to do missions work in July. This morning I got an e-mail from a group that I have been keeping up with for the past two(ish) years (thanks Dave). They do IT work for a very specialized group of people in that region. It turns out that they have an opportunity to help them out in July, on-site. I don’t know the exact dates, or if it will work out to where Desiree and I will be able to stop in while we are in the area, but it’s exciting to see God at work. When I got his e-mail, my first thought was neat, lets see how God is going to work in this one (knowing full well that this is an invitation to join Him in His work).
I pray that each one reading this sees and understands His invitation to join Him in His work. So let me ask you this, how many opportunities do you pass up in a week that is a simple invitation by God to join Him in His work?

Hey everyone, I wanted to let you know that my blog is now mobile enabled. I have checked it with Windows Mobile 6.1, but if you can check it with whatever mobile device that you have and let me know if it works, that would be great!
If you have a WordPress blog and want to make it mobile compatible, I used a plugin from Alex King. A link to the specific plugin can be found here.
Have a great day!
